THE SUICIDE NOTE

I stopped writing the moment you left.
You were my inspiration for every single word I thought of.
I loved the desire of your eyes when they looked at me.

Many a time, I felt your hug was the safest haven (tears flow from eyes).
Since you left,
I’ve swum in reverie thinking we were a thing,
Thinking we were a bliss,
Thinking we were better than hatred’s abyss,
But I dreamt of a fallacy—we were just a fling.

Days birthed—crawled—walked into the lair of years,
And years gave up the salt for new dawns.
Love, I still held you close to my heart.
If there was something I did,
You should’ve told me,
But you chose to walk the aisle of the dumb.

Why, why did you leave?

My love began and ended with you.
Death is whispering its silent, ebullient, melodies in my ears

Pen drops in pain—moves to the noose.

LOST IN BETWEEN DAWNS

…I thought ’tis one of the odd days of love
Where the curls of your hair will walk away from me,
And still, respond with a wink.
Where dashing for the doorknob
Was just a way you expressed anger and disgust—
It wasn’t.

At least, it could’ve been voiced—this breakup,
Or probably said over lunch,
But it came with a beep—
A text laced with thorny swords—
A text as deadly as a serpent’s venom—
A text, midget-like, but full of pain.
It whispered it’s over,
For another sits on the heart’s throne.

At that moment…

I’m still lost in between dawns

WHY DOES SHE COME

Why does she come, when she knows my love is nothing, but hell?
Why does she come, when she knows I have nowhere to dwell?
Why does she come, when she knows I own neither gold nor pearl?

Maybe, it’s love—I guess so,
Or she just likes my eyes’ glow.

I can’t tell,

But I know, in a sec, our love will fade away,
And we’ll become a memory of yesterday.

I don’t want her lips to utter, “Had I known”
Before she realises that she’d always been alone.

You see, everything about me isn’t real,
So I need her to change how she feels.

Tell her, please tell her that I’m a mistake,
And all I can offer to her young love is heartaches.

I YEARN TO CALL YOU BEAUTIFUL

I have seen a lot
Been with a lot
Touched a lot
The fair and the dark.
The dark converted to fair
And the fair converted to dark .
But how shall I describe you?
For your skin’s ambience is like the countenance of a seraphim.
Your teeth sparkle
Even when the sun is shinning at his best.

How I wish to call you beautiful.
But they say ,
True beauty is from within.
Since I have not entered you yet ,
I shall refrain from calling you beautiful.

But exotic…I can!
For your hair’s smoothness and curl
And your sweet scented lavenda perfume
Makes you priceless.
Your perfectly coined calf
Makes me idolize your body each night.
My room might be dark
But surely,
Your waist shall give me light.

Come ,
Let us fry our eggs together this night
For I yearn to call you beautiful!

SIMPLY AMAZING

My heart is lonely.
It awaits your presence—
Sunshine of my soul’s turquoise sky.
With you, life’s an Eden—a garden of smiles.
I love everything you—
Your flaws included.

My heart is longing for your presence—
Moonshine of my heart.
With you, I am in a ball,
Dancing my sorrows away.
Everyday with you defines paradise.

Nothing completes me more than you, Ohemaa.
You are a good handler of a home.
My kids will be safer in your belly,
For you etch good morals on indecent souls.

You come first before anything else—
The best life offered me.
My unborn kids will rain tons of curses on me if they aren’t your breed.
You’ll be to them a father—
One who disciplines with the rod of love,
And we shall be an example of quintessence—
Simply amazing.

PAIN WITHIN

Visit instagram for more

Let me pour forth
The pain I feel within,
And the tears my womb harbour
Till I shrivel and die,
For whom I praise

Has sprouted as a whore
Amid beauties
That pride as monarchs.

Truly, I have experienced hell
In so many a way,
But your love defined a furnace
Which birthed hell itself.

Can I ever be revived again?
Time, please speak
Before karma visits this devilish nitwit.

Earnest Writes Hub : Celebrating 5 years In The Literary Scene

Have you ever woken up to something that changed your perspective of life?

Here’s a snippet of what one of the members of EWC tells us :

“This is something that EWC did to me. I was scrolling through the WhatsApp statuses of people when I came across a basic article writing class by EWC. Let me tell you, I was not a very good writer nor did I have enough confidence to present my work to someone. So just seeing a status post I ended up gaining some very basic knowledge that one wouldn’t expect to seek in a free article writing class. Since that day I have found my family, a writing family or ‘wrimily’ as we call ourselves. This community helped me discover the writer in me with all the love and support that I needed. The first class I got was on how to raise your self esteem and that’s what makes EWC different from others. They won’t teach you to be just good but will build you from within to be the best version of yourself.”

Now you must be wondering what EWC actually is?

EWC stands for “Earnest Writes Community”, a community of writers and poets founded by Boakye D. Alpha. Earnest Writes was created five years ago on 25th of December to help both professional and budding writers to polish their skills and provide them with the platform that most of the writers lack in today’s world. This year, in December, Earnest Writes is celebrating 5 years of its successful journey in this field.

The Founder, Boakye D. Alpha strongly believes that  “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you” which is a very famous quote by Maya Angelou and one of the biggest reasons behind the foundation of EWC that has made it thrive so strongly over the years.

Boakye D. Alpha is a published author, poet, script writer, editor, proofreader, blogger, motivational speaker, student journalist and an entrepreneur. His works can be found on Amazon, Pabpub and various other publishing platforms. He happens to be nominated in the category of best blogger, writer, author of the year in the Ghana Student Awards (GSA). This man of great patience, ever-developing skills and sheer humbleness, has been a long-time inspiration of many people across the world, especially the EWC members and it is appropriate to say that it is his hardwork and dedication that took EWC to greater heights.

Since the past years, the members of EWC have shown their excellence in the field of poetry writing, fiction writings, screenplay writings, article writings and many other genres with the help, love and support from this community. EWC bridges the gap between the writers and publishing houses so that they can present their talents to the world. EWC recently started its own publishing branch to help writers with a place where they can seek editors, proofreaders, anthologist experts and graphic designers. They as well provide publishing on various publishing platforms and e-launches, marketing and outsourcing services to make your book reach a wide audience. It is a publishing centre you could call your home with the variance and services it provides so generously. You also get gigs for freelance jobs if you plan to earn some money through your daily writings. Even if you feel that you are still discovering yourself as a writer, EWC is the place you are looking for. They provide you with the motivation and confidence in writing, your work will be reviewed by professional writers that help you figure out your flaws and learn under them.

Overall, Earnest Writes Community is a ‘safe haven’ for the writers by all means and has now expanded in nearly every part of the world; its members consist of people from different cultures, races, nationalities but they all stand as one family. This family is celebrating its 5 years of joy and happiness together and warmly welcomes you to be a part of us.

On this special occasion they have organized some exciting events which will begin from 16th of December to 4th January.

On 16th December you will know more about the history, mission and vision of EWC by the board of directors and heads themselves; it will be conducted at 3pm GMT.

On 22th of December, they will have a mental health session and giveaways of some of the favourite books which are a treat to every book lover.

At 2-6 pm GMT on 24th of December, an EW drama will be performed by the Founder Alpha himself, followed by book readings, interviews and discussions!

On 26th of December, there will be a launch of the book ‘Forbidden Tales’ by EWC which will be held at 3-7pm GMT.

And this long list of surprises just goes on with a lot more games, Instagram lives, award functions and fun activities that will be held as a part of this celebration! Above all, they have planned out a hangout for the members in Lagos, Nigeria. If you wish to join this community and be a part of it, the link has been provided below and as they always say, Earnest Writes Community will be glad to have you!

VICTORIA

VICTORIA

She’s a swipe of realities,
A deity to fairies,
And a twilight to midnight’s series.

It took only but a look into her eyes
and the gaze into her smiles
to understand the words voices failed to speak.

She’s mine; her beauty is mine to savour.
She smiles the ancient beauty of tradition
and her curves walk the aisle of Africanism.

The battlegrounds bow to her walking stance
and sing the alphabets of her name, Victory.
Hail Victoria! Queen of Elysian bliss.
How madly I am in love with thou.

DEAR GOD, A poem by Nana Ananse.

Dear God,

I’ve got a lot of questions I’d like to ask
I want no third persons but just the two of us
It’s not about this time and its masks
Nor about options and musts
But about you.

What’s in your being?
And where have you been?
You said you’ve got no mates
Yet everything about you is a debate

Lord I don’t wanna say we’re done,
But why are you jealous about others if you’re only one?
Now religion has destroyed families,
Set distinctions and promoted diversities:
It has separated people and destroyed cities.

These old world is tearing into pieces
Humanity is losing its peace.
Now religion is one of the greatest of the world’s cankers,
And it’s destroying people more than COVID-19 and cancer.
What is the lie or the truth?
Speak, Dear God: for men say you’re all of these things root.
